Why corporations need to be regulated

Just when you thought they couldn't go lower... they have.

By the end of Sunday, BP aimed to sign up 500 fishing boats in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida to deploy boom.

BP had distributed a contract to fishermen it was hiring that waived their right to sue BP and required confidentiality and other items, sparking protests in Louisiana and elsewhere.

Darren Beaudo, a spokesman for BP, said the waiver requirement had been stripped out, and that ones already signed would not be enforced.

So much for "Beyond Petroleum." BP's marketing department's hard work is getting torched by reality pretty fast, apparently.

To me it's very encouraging though that BP seems concerned enough with its image that it has backed down from basically taking advantage of the people on the edge (coastal fisherman) its irresponsibility is pushing over the cliff. Let's hope the trend continues.
