Richard Reedy gets that right

Richard Reedy, in a post on the Sioux Falls Argus Leader blog, ponders, as I do:
Can someone please explain how creating second-class citizens out of the gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender community is for the greatest good?

I find it interesting that many of the people who actively campaign to accomplish this are at the same time actively working to secure all human rights for the unborn. So according to their logic, the unborn has more civil rights than a retired, combat-disabled Marine who just happens to be gay. Most of these people make their arguments based upon their religious beliefs, a belief that is constitutionally protected and a belief that I defended as a Marine for years.
No kidding Sergeant! You are sooooo invited on July 12 to join us and other Patriots at the Shrine Of Democracy, Mount Rushmore, to celebrate the sacrifices of all our vets. This event is part of SD PrideFest 2008.

The guest speaker will be Judy Shepard of the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

Hope to see you there!

  1. It appears more that Richard Reedy is comparing apples to oranges, The unborn child has no voice to represent themselves. Where as a Marine who decided he was gay was able to choose that life style. By providing Gays a perceived equal right, say in marriage, you are elevating sexual acts to those of life decisions. Apples to Oranges.

It appears to me that Richard Reedy, who is my brother, has a point that is not only correct, but dead on accurate. I to defended my country, and while not gay, happen to believe that all gay/lesbians should be accorded all the equal rights that the hetrosexuals of this country enjoy. My brother did not decide to be gay, that just happens to be who he is. It's not a concious decision, as put forth by oldsarg, but it's his makeup, his being. I fully support Richard in all that he does and says. He is one of the most learned and upfront people I know. If you have a problem with him and his sexuality, then I guess you also have a problem with the fact that he defended not only you, but your family and unborn children. As the saying goes, if you can't stand behind our troops, please stand behind them. BTW, my name is Rodney Reedy.
