Uh oh: new Arctic sea ice data

MSNBC: Data indicate warming far worse than thought
Summer ice could disappear as soon as 2020, leading scientist reports

Believe it, this is a local story... many atmospheric climate models predict the Black Hills sitting right in the middle of a huge drought band right here in the northern Plains. If you think the dryness of the hills this last couple of years has been remarkable, well, we may have much more headed our way.

This fossil fuel burning thing we're doing is an experiment on a grand scale, and we really don't know what's going to happen--but what the scientific community is practically unanimous in the view that 1) we are causing this major shift, and 2) we can do something about it.

(You say, what can a rally in Rapid City's Memorial park of a few committed folks do to change things? Well, take heart, this is part of a major national day of action called Step It Up 2007. We're showing the a growing movement of awareness worldwide -- spread the word!!!)

I agree there may be global warming, but to say it is unanimous that scientists believe we are causing it is a joke. We could stop using fossil fuels forever and not affect the overall scheme of nature--especially because volcanos and the sun cause more harm to global warming than humans.

  2. Hello.

Although you may hear otherwise, THERE IS NO LONGER A SCIENTIFIC DEBATE. HUMANS ARE CAUSING GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE BY BURNING FOSSIL FUELS.

    You can look it up.
